The Edmonton Eskimos made a switch on the offensive line Monday, trading lineman Thaddeus Coleman to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and signing Joel Figueroa.
The 27-year-old Figueroa, a six-foot-six and 320-pound University of Miami product, had spent the last three seasons on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ offensive line, starting in 26 games.
The Eskimos received two undisclosed players off the Roughriders’ negotiation list in return for the 30-year-old Coleman, who had two tours of duty with the Eskimos, first from 2008-09 and, most recently, 2013 to this past season.
The six-foot-eight, 320-pound Mississippi Valley State product started 21 games over the past three seasons with the Eskimos. In 2015, he dressed for one game.
